Always measure first.

January 27, 2011

The seed starting scheme this year was brilliant.

De-clutter the sun room, gain a more consistent temperature and perfect ambient and artificial light for my plants, utilize a space that is gathering dust. It would have been a great idea.

I was going to lay my new heat mat on the bottom of the old clawfoot tub upstairs, suspend my new lights immediately over it and load up 4 packed trays of seed starts in between.
The mat is too big
The trays are too long
The idea was too bad

Honey, it looks like it is the sun room again this year.

Sorry…

The first flat is planted – Broccoli and Kailaan (chinese kale) seeds are in the cubes on the mat…

Would it work better if you put a piece of plywood across the top of the tub? turn it into a flat surface then you could still use that space.

    Ugh! Dislike.

I told you that your hobbies (even the ones I eat) must stop encroaching on our living space.
    Check out Roswell’s suggestion, above.

Have you allowed space for a greenhouse in the great boxwood redesign? Just a thought……….

      Yes.
The east/northeast side (the side close to my neighbors’ “back yards” gets excellent late fall/ winter/ early spring sun, as does the space immediately beyond the boxwoods along the same property line.

      We’ll see. πŸ˜‰

Sorry, LOL. Just trying to help.

BTW, I can’t wait to see the greenhouse.
