Bogs alive

The blocks of our mountain bog that I cut out and transported 90 miles to the edge of my little pond have awakened.
The buds have turned into fiddleheads and the hostas are continuing to come out. Much more work to do but so far, so good.

Try some begonias.
That would be too easy.
I didn’t even know that Georgia had such foliage. Those plants are very popular in Seattle since we get significant rain and shade. But that’s what keeps Washington green…
Common in the mountain coves in the northernmost part of the state- hopefully I can artificially recreate enough of the conditions so that the plants will survive/thrive. We’ll know soon enough.
how are you gonna keep your bog boggy?
The pond overflows into the two bog basins, so when it rains they get double saturated. Gonna set up an automatic watering deal too so that the whole area stays moist.
It won’t get full sun until 10:30 or so in high summer and by 1:00 most of it is shaded by the fence, which will help.
