Slicers

June 30, 2012

The first “slicers” of the season were about ready as the sun went down last night; these are “Brandywine” & “Cherokee Purple”.

At 7:15 this morning our main AC compressor made a sound like a train derailing then went dead.

Did I mention the high is supposed to reach 106 today according the the National Weather Service?

I suppose it is time to break for lunch and eat some cool tomato sandwiches under a fan… (not much is going to get done around here today).

Oh my stars! I’m sorry to hear about your AC….& it’s Saturday! Do service people come out on Saturday?

    Your tomatoes look scrumptious!!

My “A/C-man-for-life” does. We are the same age and have know each other since high school; he showed right after lunch and replaced a capacitor and cool air is blowing again.

I’m envious of your Tomatoes. Ours are just starting to swell now. Brandywine is delicious. I have grown it in the past.

We are enjoying this first flush of perfect tomatoes while we can- the 100+ degree days we are experiencing will fry the pollen on just about everything and we will have a “production gap” in mid July. Usually that isn’t a problem until August but it looks like we are in trouble this year.
