These, the product of discarded grocery scallion bases 18 months ago, were worth it if only for the giant snowball blooms that have been up for weeks now.

    These are fabulous. I didn’t know the humble grocery onion was such a diva of a plant. 🙂

    We were surprised, they are between tennis ball and baseball sized. Not as dramatic one at a time vs a leek blossom on a 5′ stem, but the odd cluster is a winner lol
